Mahendra Kumar Ray is a central member of the Nepali Congress. He was the Mahottari district vice-president of Nepali Congress in 2043 BS. Ray served three terms as the district chairman of Mahottari district from 2043 BS onwards. He served as the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply and Cooperatives in 2056 BS.
